We are two licensed estheticians who were born & raised in Los Angeles, and met in 2004 working at Aqua Day Spa in Santa Monica, both with a goal of creating our own businesses. Upon discovering our mutual love for travel, we have made a tradition of leaving the country together at least once a year, and use the time to brainstorm and help each other with our goals, as there were virtually no resources for beauty entrepreneurs at the time. Elle pursued her own full-service spa as she has a degree in business as well, while Brigitte had a goal of creating private practice and the development of a skin care line as she is an herbalist and surgery technician.

Elle Marie started Elle Marie Spa nearly 20 years ago, with a 2 story spa and salon right on Pacific Coast Highway, and was the only Black owned spa in the area, which added pressure to her as a young woman starting her own business with a storefront premium location. Now, almost 20 years later, she has expanded into a larger space and has over 150 5 star Google reviews. She continues to grow, and is focussed on education for beauty professionals for the future.

Brigitte launched Brigitte Tolson Skincare & Esthetics in 2006 and since Green Chemistry, which have been featured in Best of Allure, Vogue, PBS, and several local publications including the Los Angeles Times and Voyage LA. Though Green Chemistry has grown exponentially and has become a big hit in the United Kingdom, she has loved doing customized facials with fresh herbs & fruits for her clients, and is known for advanced peels, microneedling and transformative results at her private practice in Los Angeles more than anything.

Our goal in creating Los Angeles Facials was to create something much needed in the city with more estheticians getting licensed than any other city, for both consumers and professionals alike. Los Angeles is the beauty capitol of the USA, and so many skin professionals, from dermatologists to estheticians can appear to be offer great services with beautiful before and afters on their social media and have great reviews, yet our clients often tell us they’ve had disappointing experiences numerous times trying someone they found online. We are creating a database of verified, licensed professionals with 5+ years experience for clients, along with education for consumers and professionals on how to truly find the right facialist for them, as everyone is unique, and you don’t know the history and expectations of the people writing reviews you read online.

As we are passionate about transparency in our trade, and helping other skin professionals get quality education and attracting compatible clients. Rather than serve as another review site, we intend to help people have the tools to understand how to research their estheticians and skin professionals effectively. We also aim to showcase skin professionals sharing accurate, scientifically valid videos and articles amidst the vast sea of misinformation available on social media and other information outlets.
